1) To kick things off, could you tell us a little about your career background and current role?

Over 15 years of digital marketing experience. Started as a graphic designer and transitioned to web designer. Ultimately pivoted into more on the marketing side working with clients and vendor partners and internal tech and product teams.

Worked in startup environments as well as for larger corporations. First started to learn to make my own websites in early 2000’s, monetized them as an affiliate and flipped for profit. Naturally became an Affiliate Manager, building up a network of relationships.

As my career grew, managed a small team of affiliated account managers and created processes with them for maximum efficiency.

Most recent role as VP of Demand Generation for Insurance Marketing Agency (doing everything from business development, negotiations, campaign execution, buying media myself, optimizing campaigns, preparing testing roadmaps, reporting dashboards, profit and loss statements and future strategy.

I got laid off due to Covid-19, currently consulting for small and large organizations.

2) What does a day in the life look like for you? Can you take us through a recent workday?

Wake up, grab a coffee, sift through emails, write down my plans and get to work! I’ll go for a jog if it’s nice outside to mix up the day or read a book. I jot down my thoughts all the time, always have a notebook nearby.

3) Does your current role allow for flexible or remote working? If so, how does that fit into your life and routine?

I currently work from home and stand 90% of the time with my standing desk and mat.

4) What does work-life balance mean to you and how do you work to achieve that goal?

I find it important to step away at times to clear my head and collect my thoughts. I follow this Pomodoro Technique where I work in 25 minute intervals and take 5 minute breaks in between.

5) In the past 12 months, have you started or stopped any routines or habits to change your life?

I’ve (attempted) to stopped working past 6pm in order to maintain work-life balance. My wheels are always turning.

6) Do you have any favourite books, podcasts or newsletters that you’d like to recommend?

Stacked Marketer Newsletter is a good one! Same with The Hustle.

7) Are there any products, gadgets or apps that you can’t live without?

Can’t live without Starbucks and/or Dunkin Donuts app. See a theme here?

8) If you could read an interview about work-life balance by anyone, who would that be?

Daymond John. Got a chance to see him speak at a conference last fall out in Cali. Great keynote! Awesome story.
