Describe what you do: As with many small businesses my role is quite fluid. It can vary from anything between strategy, ideation and conceptualisation to execution. I’ve always enjoyed getting my hands dirty and leading by doing but also realise when I need to step back, empower and trust the team to get shit done.
The most value I can offer is creating a culture and environment where the team can grow, and they in turn can help others to get better at what they do (whether that’s clients, partners, collaborators etc).
How do you like your coffee: Flat white generally. Sometimes a Piccolo (usually saved for the afternoon pick-me-up).
Device(s) you use: MacBook Air and iPhone. Nothing out of the ordinary really. I like to keep it quite simple in this department.
Describe your working style in one sentence: I tend to procrastinate so I find structuring my day around the tasks I enjoy first and creating consistent weekly time blocks for the ones I tend to push aside.
Right now it’s a little harder WFH with so much distraction so I try and be realistic about what can be done in a day and just write to down and cross it off. I generally thrive when there are time pressures and clear deadlines to work towards and someone holding me to account to adhere to these.
What does your workspace look like: Much tidier lately! It’s generally a bit of a mess with bills, receipts, scraps of paper with notes and tasks piled up. I usually have a few useless artefacts strewn around which I don’t use but they look cool.
How does your workspace affect your creative process: I do like things neat and organised. I accomplish this better at home than in the office for whatever reason. I know my creativity doesn’t come from sitting at a workspace all day.
I try to move around a lot, go for walks around the block, move my car regularly. I’ve found exercise to be the one thing that gets my creative process going the most so usually I try and make sure this is incorporated into my schedule. But it can sometimes be tough to find the time.
Do you have a favourite playlist for work: I enjoy discovering new music so tend to be guided by the younger team members. We have an Andpeople Friday Spotify playlist which each team member creates weekly so we generally put that on. I tend to default to the 90’s though if I’m working alone.
Who would you like to nominate for the next workflow interview: Patrick Santamaria – Co-Founder of Babekuhl.
