Workflow with Wendy Zhang, Brand & Marketing Manager at Relationships Australia NSW

In this edition of Workflow, we have Wendy Zhang, Brand & Marketing Manager at Relationships Australia NSW, talking about creative work in the morning and admin stuff in the arvo.

Workflow is an interview series by Balance the Grind to get a glimpse into people’s working styles and workspaces. If you’re interested in sharing your workflow, submit it here!

Describe what you do: I am responsible for driving digital campaigns and online presence for Relationships Australia NSW. This includes developing email and social campaigns through marketing automation, Google Adwords and SEO, and multicultural marketing to culturally diverse communities. Digital marketing has always been my focus and interest since I started working. On the side I own a piano teaching studio and work as a music writer and reviewer.

How do you like your coffee: Mocha with no sugar any time of the day. Although during COVID I switched to black teas as I can make that easily at home.

Device(s) you use: 14-inch Asus Zen-book UX434FA. I bought my Zen-book laptop last year and loved it ever since. It is quite light-weight yet has great audio and visual that I carry it around daily for all sorts of activities – playing workout videos in the morning, Zooming with my colleagues and music students and streaming concerts and operas at night. I talk more about my increased usage (or addiction) of devices during COVID in my blog here.

Describe your working style in one sentence: My brain functions best in the mornings after a good workout so I always focus on creative tasks like content writing in the morning, then leave meetings and administrative tasks in the afternoon.

What does your workspace look like: My current workspace is the dining table in my living room, with plenty of sunlight from the balcony window and a piano nearby to keep me distracted or inspired.

Do you have a favourite playlist for work: I like to listen to jazz fusion while at work. My Spotify is currently playing Rebirth by jazz pianist Billy Childs whom I had the pleasure to see live last year.

Who would you like to nominate for the next workflow interview: Stephanie Eslake, Editor at CutCommon.
